A Vision Rooted in Experience and Purpose
Trepharm is the youngest pharmaceutical manufacturer not only in Kosovo but also in the Balkan region. The idea behind Trepharm was born from a deep understanding of market needs and a desire to elevate healthcare in our country. Inspired by the lifelong experience of our Chairman, Mr. Bedri Prishtina, in construction and international trade, we set out to enter a completely new industry—one with both high stakes and high impact.
Our Managing Director, Mr. Mergim Prishtina, shares, “From the bitterness of disease, man learns the sweetness of health.” This philosophy has guided every decision we’ve made—from our initial research to the launch of our manufacturing operations.
Bridging the Gap in Regional Healthcare
Our market study revealed a critical gap in pharmaceutical production within Kosovo and the surrounding region. While demand for quality medicine was growing, there was a lack of locally produced pharmaceuticals that met EU regulatory standards. We saw this as both a challenge and an opportunity.
With support from global industry partners, we invested in building a modern pharmaceutical facility equipped with a sophisticated Quality Control Laboratory. Today, Trepharm stands as a beacon of innovation and quality in the region’s healthcare sector.
Overcoming Challenges Through Collaboration and Commitment
Launching a pharmaceutical production company from the ground up comes with its share of challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was the shortage of local expertise in this specialized field. To overcome this, we engaged experienced professionals from abroad to help establish and operate the facility, while simultaneously training and mentoring young Kosovar talent.
Quality has remained our top priority throughout this process. We’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that every product that leaves our facility is safe, effective, and reliable.
Growing with Purpose
Our growth journey is just getting started. We are currently in the final phase of developing our second manufacturing unit, which will expand our product line to include sterile injectable medicines alongside solid and semi-solid forms.
Today, Trepharm employs over 50 people, and we expect to grow to 150 employees by the end of the current expansion phase. We already supply more than 80% of pharmacies across Kosovo and are preparing to enter regional markets with the same level of quality and care.
We’re also actively seeking partnerships with international companies that have strong market access and expertise in distribution—collaborations that will help us scale and deliver our products to a broader audience.
